Battlefield V Trailer Shows Off Five New Multiplayer Maps, Hints Pacific Theater is Coming

Battlefield V

Since launching in November of last year, Battlefield V’s flow of post-launch content has been a bit sporadic, with the game getting its first new multiplayer map in nearly six months last week. Well, it seems the content firehose is finally being turned on, as EA and DICE have released a trailer for the next chapter in Battlefield V’s Tides of War live service, and it includes a whopping five new maps! Chapter 4: Defying the Odds kicks off with two big 64-player maps set in North Africa and Greece, which will be followed by smaller maps set in Norway and France. A map based on Battlefield 3’s Operation Métro is also on a way. Check out some intense footage of the upcoming maps, below.

  • Al Sundan (June) – Built for classic multiplayer action, focusing on big distances, vehicle-based teamplay, and battles across all ranges. This map is based on the single player war story in the game, Under No Flag, in the vast North African desert.
  • Marita (July) – The second of Battlefield V’s two Greece maps, after Mercury launched in Chapter 3: Trial by Fire. Marita transports players to a gorgeous mountainside with cobblestone roads overlooking a river, and features infantry-focused combat where Allied forces are making a last stand to halt the Axis army.
  • Frantic close-quarters fights comes later in the summer with two maps tailored for intimate infantry combat. Players will destroy an explosives production factory in Lofoten Islands, and unseat the Axis occupation in Provence.
  • Operation Underground (October) – Inspired by the iconic Battlefield 3 map Operation Métro, this map will feature fierce man-to-man combat across diverse play areas like urban streets, courtyards, the plaza area, service tunnels, train platforms and more.

Of course, the most interesting part of the trailer arrives at the very end, which teases Battlefield V will be leaving Europe and North Africa, and entering the Pacific War. EA is promising to deliver more information during their EA Play livestream on June 8 at 10:30am PT.

Battlefield V is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Chapter 4: Defying the Odds begins rolling out on June 27.
