Run the following commands in Terminal to install GIMP via Ubuntu Terminal using GIMP PPA:

sudo apt-get update
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-edge
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install gimp

Once installed, open GIMP from Ubuntu Dash.
