'Mass Effect: Andromeda' Trailer: Final Andromeda Initiative Video Released, Watch To Claim A Reward

The Mass Effect: Andromeda website posted its final trailer video to complete its Andromeda Initiative briefing, which earns you a reward: an exclusive Pathfinder-grade helmet if you’re logged into your EA Account while watching.

The video takes you through some of the Golden Worlds – planets designated as potential new homes for humankind as our species attempts to infest, uh I mean colonize, the Andromeda galaxy. In the new Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer, Suvi, tech officer on your crew, talks you through the seven Golden Worlds. Check out the video below:

“Golden worlds should not just be capable of supporting life, but should also be rich in minerals to supply our colonies and the Initiative itself… The more resources we gather, the more upgrades we can complete on the Nexus’ infrastructure, the more colonists we can then awaken from cryo-sleep,” says Suvi.

  • Habitat 1 is “an arid world with vast underground rivers” and “temperatures are well within a comfortable range for settlement.”
  • Habitat 2 is a moon orbiting a gas giant, “expected to be rich in minerals and could potentially act as a resource for generations to come.”
  • Habitat 3 has “lush jungle canopies and rolling hills.”
  • Habitat 4 has “an immense wealth of liquid surface water, making it an ideal candidate as a life-sustaining world.”
  • Habitat 5 “is a perfect world for dextro-protein life.”
  • Habitat 6 has “wide oceans and a temperate climate.”
  • Habitat 7 has “all the markers of a tropical paradise” and will be the first destination upon arrival in six hundred years.

Pathfinder teams investigate the planets to determine their viability: allying with indigenous populations, eliminating threats, and solving environmental problems in order to establish colonial outposts. (There is no guarantee that the indigenous populations aren’t the threat, of course. Treading awkward imperialist ground… in space .) Once the outposts are established, word is sent to the Nexus and more colonies are awakened, continuing the migration process.

Some worlds may already be the sovereign soil of an existing culture, “a concern we will need to treat with respect,” says Suvi. (…. In space. )

Mass Effect: Andromeda launches for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on Mar. 21. Are you looking forward to visiting these Golden Worlds? Or do you just want that nifty Pathfinder helmet? Let us know in the comments section below.
