AI on OneDrive: Teaser video suggests a new Copilot feature is coming soon

Microsoft has been rigorously bringing AI to its everyday applications — especially with its new assistant tool, Windows Copilot. Now, it seems like the Redmond-based tech giant has their eyes set on OneDrive, the file-hosting service. The question is: Will AI on OneDrive soon become a thing?

Seems like it. As this leaked teaser video seemingly suggests, Microsoft is looking to announce new features that “help you get organized” on OneDrive. Maybe new ways to sort out files? Delete unwanted big-sized folders? Smart ways to make the most out of your OneDrive storage?

If our calculation is correct, Microsoft will hold a second annual Power Platform Conference in Las Vegas between October 1 and 6, 2023 — a conference packed with Microsoft’s senior leaders, product experts, and engineers. Coincidence? Guess not.

On the other hand, OneDrive’s competitors, Google Drive & Google Photos, have long lined up with AI. A few months back, Google announced an AI-powered “magic editor” on the app that lets you reimagine your photos easily in just a few clicks.

Aimed for its 365 (previously Office) productivity apps, Microsoft boasts that its tool Copilot tool can do wonders like drafting ideas on Word, designing presentations from scratch on PowerPoint, summarizing long email threads on Outlook, and more.

Did we also mention that another rival product, Google Duet AI, comes under the same price as Copilot with much cooler features for work?
