Over the past couple of years, the need for a great webcam has increased significantly. Many of us now work from home, and virtual meetings have become much more common. Even spending time with family has to be done virtually sometimes, so it’s more important than ever to have a great webcam. While you can buy external webcams that are fantastic, that can be a clunky solution, so we’ve rounded up the best laptops you can buy that have 1080p (or higher) cameras built-in, so you don’t need any peripherals.
Thankfully, in 2023, many companies are finally starting to realize the importance of great webcams, and so it’s become much easier to find great laptops with great cameras. With that being said, it can be that much harder to choose one, so here are our recommendations.
Best overall: Lenovo Yoga 9i
The 2022 Lenovo Yoga 9i is a fantastic laptop in almost every way, and we said as much in our review. This is probably Lenovo’s best consumer laptop of the past few years, and it gets so much right, from the design to the display and, of course, that 1080p webcam at the top.
First off, the Lenovo Yoga 9i is powered by 12th-generation Intel Core processors, going up to an Intel Core i7-1280P. The P series of processors has a TDP of 28W, and the top-tier model has 14 cores, 20 threads, and boost speeds up to 4.8GHz, so you’re getting a ton of performance with this PC. On top of that, you can get it with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 5200MHz and 1TB of SSD storage, making for a premium experience all around as far as performance goes.
That’s combined with a phenomenal display, at least depending on the option you choose. This is a 14-inch panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, and that alone is already great news since that taller screen is fantastic for productivity. The base model comes with a Full HD+ (1920 x 1200) IPS panel, but there are two stunning OLED upgrade options available, too. One is a 2.8K panel (2880 x 1800) which has a 90Hz refresh rate so you get a smoother experience. The other is an Ultra HD+ (3840 x 2400) option that gives you the sharpest image quality, though it has a more standard 60Hz refresh rate. Both of these are stellar displays, so it’s up to you what you value most.
Above that display, of course, is a 1080p webcam, which means you’re going to look much better during video calls than you would with a 720p camera. It also support Windows Hello facial recognition, so unlocking your PC is easier than ever. You do get a fingerprint reader as well if you prefer that, though.
The design of the Lenovo Yoga 9i is yet another thing that helps it stand out. Whereas previous models looked a bit boring, the Yoga 9i adopts these beautiful new rounded edges that give the laptop a ton more life and make it more comfortable to hold. It looks great, and with 15.25mm of thickness and weight starting at 3.09lbs, it’s also fairly thin and light for an all-aluminum convertible. It comes in either Oatmeal or Strom Grey colors, both of which look great.
Coming around to the ports, you get two Thunderbolt 4 connections, one standard USB Type-C port, one USB Type-A port, and a headphone jack. It’s not the most complete setup out of the box, but you do get one USB Type-A port for legacy peripherals, and the abundance of USB Type-C/Thunderbolt makes it easy to add more ports if you need them.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is a beautiful laptop with the latest Intel processors and all the makings of a premium laptop.
Best lightweight laptop: Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro
If you want one of the absolute lightest laptops around but without sacrificing performance or that 1080p webcam, the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro is the answer to your needs. After the initial Galaxy Book Pro left a pretty good impression overall. its successor is an improvement in almost every way, all while keeping the ridiculously thin and light form factor.
Performance-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro is powered by intel’s 12th-generation Core processors, specifically from the P series. It goes up to an Intel Core i7-1260P, which has 12 cores, 16 threads, and boost speeds up to 4.6GHz, so it has a lot of performance to offer. As per usual with Intel, you get integrated Iris Xe graphics for lighter GPU workloads, and the laptop is rounded out by up to 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, all you need for a premium laptop experience.
The display is also a highlight on the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro, especially because it’s the only laptop that includes an AMOLED panel by default. Aside from the size – since the Galaxy Book 2 Pro is available in either 13.3- or 15.6-inch models – there’s only one configuration for this display, and it’s AMOLED: It comes in Full HD resolution, which is more than sharp enough for a 13.3-inch panel, and still solid for the bigger one. The display in this year’s model is brighter than last year’s too, so outdoor visibility should be even better.
Naturally, the laptop does come with a 1080p webcam, another notable upgrade from the previous generation, it also has a wider field of view than before. Samsung also includes some software that lets you tweak how you look during calls, so you can always be confident in how you present yourself. Unfortunately, there’s no Windows Hello facial recognition support on this laptop, so the fingerprint reader is your go-to for biometric authentication.
The design is the most impressive aspect of the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro, particularly because of how thin and light it is. The star of the show is the 13.3-inch model, which weighs a mere 1.92 pounds and measures 11.2mm in thickness. Even the 15-inch version is only 11.7mm thick and weighs 2.45 pounds, which is still super impressive. The laptop also looks good in both graphite and silver colorways, the latter having a clean white interior that’s a bit more lively.
As for ports, the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro covers the basics, including one Thunderbolt 4 port, one standard USB Type-C port, one USB Type-A port, and a headphone jack. The 15.6-inch model also has HDMI, so it’s an even more well-rounded setup. Either way, this isn’t a bad supply of ports considering how thin and light this laptop is.
Ultimately, the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro is definitely one of the best laptops around with a 1080p webcam. The fact that it packs a powerful processor and a solid selection of ports in such a thin and light chassis is a feat of engineering, and it’s almost impossible not to recommend it.
Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro
The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro is an incredibly lightweight laptop that still packs high-end specs.
Best for creators: MacBook Pro 14-inch (2023)
If you care less about the bells and whistles of the form factor and more about performance, the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are some of the best creator laptops out there. It’s a very powerful laptop, but it’s also incredibly efficient, making this one of the best laptops to use when you can’t reach for an outlet.
The internals on the MacBook Pro are very different from anything else out there because Apple makes its own processors. The latest generation of these laptops comes with the Apple M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, with up to 12 CPU cores (eight performance and four efficient) and 38 GPU cores. These deliver even more performance than the M1 Pro and M1 Max, which were incredibly powerful for how power-efficient they can be. You can expect demanding tasks to be even faster, but battery life will be just as good. The laptops also come with up to a massive 96GB of unified memory and an 8TB SSD, so you really can’t ask for much more.
The display is also phenomenal. Apple is one of the first companies to use a Mini-LED panel in its laptops, offering local dimming with 10,000 Mini-LEDs behind the screen. This allows for a very high contrast ratio, pure blacks, and an incredible 1,600 nits of peak brightness, or 1,000 of sustained full-screen brightness. It’s also an incredibly sharp display, with the 14-inch model sporting a 3024 x 1964 resolution, while the 16-inch version goes up to 3456 x 2244. The aspect ratio is slightly taller than 16:10.
Arguably the biggest downfall of this display is that it has a notch at the top, borrowed from the iPhone. At least the notch makes room for a 1080p camera, which is powered by Apple’s image signal processor to deliver great-quality video. However, there’s no Face ID here like on the iPhone — you have to use Touch ID built into the power button.
The design of the MacBook Pro is very much in line with what you’d expect from a MacBook. It comes in a plain Silver or Space Grey color, and there’s really nothing too special about the way it looks. The MacBook Pro is also not a light laptop for its size, coming in at 3.5 pounds. It’s still fairly thin, measuring 15.5mm, but it’s not the most portable laptop you can find. Of course, when you consider how powerful it is, that becomes much more acceptable.
Back to the positives, though, Apple has given the MacBook Pro 14-inch a much better port setup than its predecessors. It now comes with three Thunderbolt 4 ports — despite not having Intel processors anymore — HDMI, a full-size SD card reader, and a headphone jack with improved support for high-impedance headphones. Plus, it brought MagSafe back with support for high-speed charging. The lack of USB Type-A ports may be a bummer if you’ve been using Windows laptops, but considering MacBooks haven’t had them in years, it’s easier to accept.
Whether the MacBook Pro 14-inch is worth it depends entirely on how much performance you need from your laptop. It’s not a cheap laptop at all, but it’s incredibly fast and efficient, has a fantastic screen, and comes with a great 1080p webcam.
Apple MacBook Pro (2023)
The latest MacBook Pro models pack an even bigger punch with M2 Pro and M2 Max processors, plus they have fantastic mini-LED displays and a 1080p webcam.
Best AMD laptop: Acer Swift Edge
Not many companies put a ton of effort into making super-premium AMD-powered laptops, but the Acer Swift Edge is a fantastic exception. It’s an easy recommendation not just for its webcam but for everything around it.
It starts with the performance, which is driven by an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor with eight cores, 16 threads, and boost speeds up 4.7GHz. That’s going to deliver fantastic performance in all kinds of day-to-day tasks, even though AMD processors tend to slow down significantly when they’re running on battery power. Not only that, but this laptop comes with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, so you have everything you need for a great experience.
But the real highlight of this laptop is the 16-inch display with a tall 16:10 aspect ratio. This large canvas comes with a stunning OLED panel that produces vibrant colors and true blacks, and on top of that, it’s extremely sharp with Ultra HD+ (3840 x 2400) resolution. That’s the only configuration available, too, so you’re guaranteed a phenomenal viewing experience. Of course, above that display sits a 1080p webcam with temporal noise reduction, which should ensure you look great during meetings and calls. There’s no facial recognition on this model, but you can use the fingerprint reader to sign in with Windows Hello.
Acer touts the Swift Edge as the lightest 16-inch laptop around, and indeed, despite its large size, it weighs a mere 2.58 pounds, which makes it extremely easy to take with you on a trip. It’s also just under 13mm thin, and it uses a magnesium-aluminum alloy that looks premium despite its lightness.
And even though it’s so thin, the Acer Swift Edge still has two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, and HDMI, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you get plenty of connectivity for such a thin device. The ports are all on the same side, which may not be the most convenient setup, but at least it has them.
For its $1,500 price tag, the Acer Swift Edge offers exceptional value, especially with its stunning display and premium design. Add to that some solid specs, and you have a laptop that’s hard to pass up.
Acer Swift Edge
The Acer Swift Edge is an excellent AMD-powered laptop and the lightest 16-inch laptop on the market. It has a fast AMD Ryzen 7 processor and a stunning OLED display.
Best convertible: HP Spectre x360 13.5
The latest generation of HP Spectre x360 laptops came with a massive improvement to the included webcams, and if these were already great laptops before, the new Spectre x360 13.5 is phenomenal. It keeps most of what makes the Spectre x360 fantastic, but with some changes in design and a far better webcam that makes this a no-brainer.
In terms of performance, the HP Spectre x360 13.5 comes with 12th-generation Intel Core CPUs, but unlike most of the models we’ve seen so far, these come from the U series. They have a lower 15W TDP, which means they won’t be as fast, but in turn, they’ll get you better battery life. You can go up to an Intel Core i7-1255U, which gives you 10 cores, 12 threads, and clock speeds to 4.7GHz on the performance cores, so you still get very solid performance for day-to-day tasks. It still includes Intel Iris Xe graphics, and on top of that, you can configure this laptop with up to 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. This is a premium laptop through and through.
One of the more remarkable aspects of the Spectre x360 13.5 is the display, which is a 13.5-inch panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio. That’s an aspect ratio that’s even taller than 16:10, and it makes for a fantastic canvas to work on, especially if you’re into drawing or taking handwritten notes. Plus, it’s great if you want to use the laptop in tablet mode in vertical orientation. the base model is Full HD+ (1920 x 1280) resolution, and you can add an HP Sure View Reflect privacy screen to block others from seeing your screen. However, for most people, the real upgrade is the 3K2K (3000 x 2000) OLED panel option, which is incredibly sharp and offers the benefits of OLED we’ve already mentioned. Of course, all the configurations support touch and pen input, since you can use it as a tablet.
The webcam on the HP Spectre x360 is potentially one of the best on this list. Yes, it records in 1080p, but the sensor itself has 5MP resolution, and it has some smart features like auto framing and lighting adjustments so you always look your best. On top of that, the camera supports Windows Hello facial recognition, so unlocking your PC is easier than ever.
Design-wise, the HP Spectre x360 13.5 is pretty different from previous Spectre models. it keeps the dual-tone aesthetic, coming on both Nightfall Black and a new Nocturne Blue option. However, it’s much more subdued now – only a thin outline around the edges of the laptop and the hinge are colored differently. It makes for a design that doesn’t stand out as much, but it still has a unique spin to it that makes it appealing. As for portability, the laptop is just over 17mm thick and weighs 3.01lbs, so it’s about as portable as you’d expect for a premium aluminum convertible.
As for ports, the setup is about as solid as you could expect it to be on a laptop of this size. You get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB Type-A port, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. One of the Thunderbolt ports is placed at an angle on the trimmed-off corner below the display, which makes it a bit more accessible if you have your cables coming in from the back or the opposite side of the laptop-
The Spectre x360 13.5 is a great convertible, and there aren’t a ton of flaws we can point on it. It has a beautiful premium design, a great display, and with the latest model, one of the best 1080p webcams you’ll find on a laptop. You can check it out below.

The HP Spectre x360 13.5 is a convertible with high-end processors, a sleek design, and a fantastic 5MP camera.
Best tablet: Surface Pro 9
The Surface line of products has always had some of the best 1080p webcams in a laptop, and that’s never been more true than with the Surface Pro 9. The 5G model is especially great if you want a great webcam experience, but the Wi-Fi variant has similar camera hardware.
On the inside, there are some big differences between the Surface Pro 9 Wi-Fi and 5G models. The Intel model is powered by up to an Intel Core i7-1255U processor, which gives you 10 cores and 12 threads, with boost speeds up to 4.7GHz. Meanwhile, the 5G model is powered by the Microsoft SQ3 chipset, based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3. This is also a very capable processor, with eight cores and speeds up to 3GHz, though the Intel model will be faster overall. You can also configure the Intel version with up to 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, while the 5G model goes up to 16GB and 512GB, respectively.
The display is one of the highlights of the Surface Pro 9. It’s a 13-inch panel, and as usual, it has a 3:2 aspect ratio. The resolution is 2880 x 1920, so this is a very sharp screen, and on top of that, it has a 120Hz refresh rate that dynamically adjusts. That means it can make animations and transitions look smoother, but it can also save power by using a lower refresh rate when it makes sense. The display supports touch and pen input, as you’d expect for a tablet.
Above that display, you’ll find a 5MP camera with support for 1080p video, something we’ve been seeing for a while in the Surface Pro line. Naturally, it also comes with Windows Hello facial recognition. Because it’s a tablet, the Surface Pro 9 actually includes a second camera on the back, and it’s now a 10MP sensor with support for 4K video. The 5G model has something unique, though — thanks to the neural processing unit (NPU) inside the Microsoft SQ3 chip, it can enable Windows Studio Effects. This is a set of features that includes background blur, eye contact, and face tracking, which make the webcam experience that much better. There’s also voice clarity, which removes background noise during calls so people can hear you more clearly.
The Surface Pro 9 comes in a few colors for the first time, though they’re only available on the Intel model. The 5G model only comes in Platinum, but you can get the Wi-Fi variant in Graphite, Forest, and Sapphire, and that last one looks particularly great. Otherwise, it’s similar to before; the tablet is 9.4mm thick and weighs about 1.84 pounds in the lightest configuration, though that excludes the keyboard, which you need to buy separately.
As is usual for Surface devices, the supply of ports is not extensive. You do get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, so you can connect just about anything you want here, but aside from that, there’s only a Surface Connect port. Microsoft actually removed the headphone jack in this model, which is a bummer if you were hoping to use your wired headphones with it. Of course, the 5G model has cellular connectivity, which is a big plus if you plan to work on the go.
If you want the power of a laptop in an extra portable device, plus a 1080p camera, the Surface Pro 9 is one of the best options around. Plus, it’s very portable, so you can use it anywhere you go.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9 with 5G
The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 with 5G packs a Microsoft SQ3 processor, which gets it great battery life and support for both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G.
Best budget tablet: Surface Go 3
Finally, if you want a laptop that’s affordable and still has a 1080p webcam, the Surface Go 3 is your go-to (even if it’s technically a tablet). Webcams are usually one of the first things to cut back on with budget devices, but the Surface Go 3 has cameras almost as good as the premium Surface tablets.
Where the Surface Go 3 makes some compromises compared to other budget laptops is the performance. It comes with up to an Intel Core i3-10100Y, which is a dual-core, four-thread processor with boost speeds up to 3.9GHz. The base model comes with an Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y, which runs at up to 3.4GHz instead. Both are low-power processors, so while performance should be ok, it will definitely fall behind the premium laptops on this list. It also includes up to 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD, which is the configuration we recommend if you can afford it. The base model has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage, which isn’t going to give you a great experience.
On the other hand, the display on the Surface Go 3 is very good for a Windows PC in this price range. It’s a 10.5-inch panel, and it comes in the 3:2 aspect ratio found in the more premium Surface devices, making this one of the very few budget laptops that don’t have a 16:9 screen. It’s also a Full HD+ (1920 x 1280) display, so it’s very sharp for its size, and definitely sharper than most other laptops at this price. Being a tablet, support for touch and the Surface Pen is also a given.
As we said above, the webcam also wasn’t sacrificed on the Surface Go 3. Like the Surface Pro 8, the Surface Go 3 has a 5MP/1080p webcam, something you won’t find on any other laptop at this price, and it also supports Windows Hello facial recognition. On the back, there’s another camera, this time an 8MP sensor that also records 1080p video.
The design of the Surface Go 3 follows what we’ve known from Surface tablets in the past (prior to the Pro 8). It’s a thin and light magnesium tablet with flat edges, allowing the Surface Pen to attach magnetically to the side. Thanks to the small size and the magnesium build, the Surface Go 3 weighs just 1.2lbs, and it’s also 8.3mm thin, making it very easy to carry anywhere you want to take it. Of course, you might want to add a keyboard, which is sold separately, but that doesn’t change the fact this is one of the most portable laptops around.
Finally, the Surface Go 3 has a limited supply of ports, as is the usual for Surface devices. You get one USB Type-C port, a Surface Connect port for charging (and optional docking), a 3,5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. There’s no Thunderbolt support here, either, which is what you’d expect from a budget laptop. While this isn’t a terrible setup for a tablet, it’s underwhelming for a Windows PC, so you might need some adapters if you want to connect wired peripherals to this PC.
Despite that, the Surface Go 3 is a great budget device, and if you want a 1080p webcam on the cheap, you won’t find another laptop that can do that. However, you have to keep in mind that the keyboard is sold separately, so that’s a cost you’ll have to add if you want a proper laptop experience.
Microsoft Surface Go 3
The Surface Go 3 is a budget tablet that makes some smart choices to offer a premium experience where other laptops in this price range tend to fall apart.
Best gaming laptop: Razer Blade 15
A 1080p webcam is great for video meetings and calls, but it can also be good for streaming if you don’t want to spend money on one of the best webcams out there. And if you’re streaming your gaming sessions, why not get a laptop that can do it all?
The Razer Blade 15 is one of the most powerful laptops on this list, packing up to a 45W Intel Core i9-12900H with 14 cores, 20 threads, and boost speeds up to 5GHz. In addition to that, you can get this laptop with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU with 16GB of memory and 105W of power, so all your games will run just fine, and you should be able to stream them with no issues, too. Rounding out the specs, you get up to 16GB of RAM (though you can upgrade it yourself after the fact) and a 1TB SSD, plus an extra M.2 slot for storage expansion.
The display on the Razer Blade 15 comes in a few variants, but the form factor is always the same — a 15.6-inch panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio. From there, you can choose a Full HD display with a 360Hz refresh rate, a Quad HD display with a 240Hz refresh rate, or a 4K display with a 144Hz refresh rate. You can choose whether you prefer more resolution or a smoother refresh rate depending on your needs. There will also be a Quad HD OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate coming later in the year, which you might like if you enjoy the vibrancy and true blacks OLED provides. All of these are great options depending on your needs, though I’d personally say the Quad HD panels strike the right balance of smoothness and image quality.
Webcams are often overlooked in gaming laptops, but the Razer Blade 15 uses a 1080p camera above the display, so you’re pretty well served here. Not just that, there’s also support for Windows Hello facial recognition, something else that’s also overlooked frequently on gaming laptops. It’s great to see that Razer didn’t ignore these details.
Gaming laptops can sometimes have garish designs, but the Razer Blade also does a good job of being subdued enough to use in public. It’s an all-black laptop aside from the green Razer logo on the lid, and it looks great. The only RGB lighting is on the keyboard, but it only shines through the labels, so it’s very subtle and you can just change the light to white for a completely clean look. For all the power inside, the Razer Blade 15 weighs 4.4lbs, which isn’t bad at all for the internal specs here. It’s also under 17mm thin, an impressive feat for sure.
Connectivity is another one of the strengths of the Blade 15 Advanced. It comes with two Thunderbolt ports, three USB Type-A (3.2 Gen 2) ports, HDMI 2.1, a headphone jack, and a full-size SD card reader. There really isn’t much more you can ask for here.
The Razer Blade 15 is a great powerful laptop that doesn’t overlook features like the 1080p webcam or the design, something that tends to happen with other gaming laptops. You can find most configurations at Amazon below.

Best business laptop: HP Dragonfly Folio G3
In 2022, HP upgraded all of its premium laptops with 5MP webcams, which are some of the best you could find on any laptop. But towards the end of the year, it went even further with the HP Dragonfly Folio G3, which comes with a spectacular 8MP camera on top of a versatile and premium design.
But let’s start with performance. The HP Dragonfly Folio G3 is packing 12th-generation Intel Core processors, specifically 15W models. These processors have 10 cores and 12 threads, boost speeds go up to 4.8GHz on the top-tier configuration, which is an Intel Core i7-1265U with vPro. The laptop can also be configured with up to 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, so you won’t miss out on performance or storage space.
The display is one of the more unique aspects of this laptop. It’s a 13.5-inch panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is even taller than the 16:10 we’ve been seeing lately on laptops. The base model has Full HD+ (1920 x 1280) resolution, and you add HP Sure View Reflect, which is a privacy screen. If you want the best viewing experience, though, there’s a stunning 3K2K (3000 x 2000) OLED model available. This is a convertible, so the display supports touch and pen input, too.
Above that display is the 8MP webcam, which is probably the best you’ll find on any laptop. The video resolution will still be 1080p when you’re on a call, but HP uses software smarts to track your face and keep you in the frame. With the extra resolution of the sensor, it can just crop into the image without having to lose any quality.
The design of the HP Dragonfly Folio makes it even more interesting. Being a folio convertible means that instead of having a 360-degree hinge, HP uses a second hinge behind the screen, which lets you pull the display closer to you, lay it over the keyboard, or flip it around. It’s more convenient than a typical convertible, and it’s more premium because HP has covered this laptop in a sleek faux leather material. At 3.09 pounds, it’s not an extremely light laptop, but it’s definitely portable enough for almost anyone.
A potential downside of this laptop is the port selection, which includes just two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a headphone jack. Business laptops tend to have more traditional ports like USB Type-A and HDMI, but that’s not the case here, though you can use a Thunderbolt dock to expand your possibilities.
