Dopamine jailbreak updated to version 1.1.3 with several under-the-hood improvements

The Dopamine jailbreak tool for A12-A15 devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1 received an update Wednesday evening, officially bringing the utility up to version 1.1.3.

Lars Fröder announces Dopamine version 1.1.3.

Dopamine project lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) shared a post about the update on X, formerly Twitter, with a link to the GitHub page that provides the following change log:

– Transition away from old PPLRW method to a new PPLRW method that works by mapping in the entire kernel physical address space into the userland process, this fixes all remaining issues with PPLRW such as multithreading support and TLB issues (unfortunately this is also what breaks jbupdate’ing with just a userspace reboot, as the primitives from earlier versions cannot easily be transferred to this one)
– Reenable launchd crash reporter in a way that cannot be detected by apps
– Hide uninstall jailbreak button when jailbroken as it didn’t work properly in this state, only appears in unjailbroken mode now
– Fix iDownload option not working

Most of the changes in this update appear to be under-the-hood improvements aimed at boosting the user experience. Having said that, most users aren’t likely to notice a difference in day-to-day activities unless they were specifically experiencing issues with any of the above mentioned fixes.

One thing worth noting is that when you install this version of the Dopamine jailbreak, your device will actually reboot instead of userspace rebooting. What this means is that you will need to re-jailbreak after the device reboots – so just keep that in mind if none of your jailbreak tweaks are working when your device turns back on.

This isn’t so much an issue with Dopamine, a semi-untethered jailbreak, as its TrollStore-based installation method means it remains signed indefinitely and there’s no risk of needing a computer as with semi-tethered jailbreaks.

If you’re an existing Dopamine jailbreak user, then you will be prompted to install the latest update upon opening the app. The prompt to update process will look something like this:

Updating to the latest Dopamine version.

Anyone who’s new to Dopamine and wants to get started for the first time will need to follow the steps outlined in our step-by-step tutorial to get started. Obviously, we recommend that you install the latest version of the Dopamine jailbreak tool from the get-go to ensure the highest jailbreaking stability.
