One of the biggest games of 2017 hits PlayStation 4 this week. But many Horizon Zero Dawn fans, many of whom have pre-ordered digital copies of open world RPG, still aren’t sure when the game will be made accessible. So here’s what we know about Horizon Zero Dawn ’s digital distribution and PSN launch time.
According to Sony, pre-loading is already underway on the PlayStation Network, giving fans the freedom to download Horizon Zero Dawn before the game is unlocked on Tuesday morning. The game is just a few hundred megabytes under the 40 GB mark, so don’t expect a quick transfer, but Horizon Zero Dawn isn’t so large that most players won’t be able to download Guerrilla’s first open world RPG before it debuts on Tuesday. A small Day One patch, roughly ~250 MB in size, should also be downloaded before you dive into the game.
So when can you actually play that copy of Horizon Zero Dawn sitting on your PS4 hard drive?
The PlayStation Store listing for Horizon Zero Dawn confirms the game will be playable at 12:01 am (EST) on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Players won’t be forced to wait until the clock strikes midnight in their time zone, meaning some people actually get to play the game late on Feb. 27, but will instead be able to start playing (provided their download is finished) once it’s officially Tuesday on the east coast.
