I use Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive on a daily basis so I have all three clients installed on my computer to get all data synced up. But there is another way that I can actually use to access all my cloud data without installing the clients.
CloudMounter is a tool that can map a cloud storage as a network drive for the easiest access from any Windows PC. You can access, save and upload files to a connected cloud drive right in File Explorer without installing any client, as if just copying and moving files locally on your computer.
How to use it?
Download the tool and install it on your computer. When launched the very first time, you get three types of cloud storage listed in the application Window. Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive are included by default in the tool.
Pick one of them to start the link process. I started with OneDrive and signed in with my Microsoft Account.
And it’s all set with a new drive mounted automatically to my File Explorer.
I can now navigate through the files on V drive like they are right on my local computer. I can also open them, make changes to them, or even delete them right there as well. I can even check the Properties of the mounted cloud drive and see how many free storages left for me to use.
I then moved on and clicked Add new connection to add Google Drive as my second cloud drive on my computer. It worked seamlessly.
Is it free?
What’s even better, it’s free if you only need to connect the big 3 cloud storage, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. If you need to connect to more services, such as FTP, Amazon S3, etc, you will have to upgrade to the Pro edition, around $30. It will only be read-mode without a valid license to activate the tool.
Verdict
Overall, CloudMounter is a sleek tool that connects all my main cloud spaces in my File Explorer without compromising any speed or performance issues. It works reliably and builds a solid secure bridge between my computer and my cloud storages. I only wish I can connect and consolidate my multiple Microsoft Accounts at the same time.
CloudMounter for Windows is fully compatible with Win 7 SP1 and newer. It has a Mac version that also has the encryption feature built-in. I was told that the encryption for Windows version is also coming.
