Google’s Files app has got a new feature called Safe Folder to protect your files using a PIN. This feature also encrypts the folder which is then protected by a 4 number PIN password to keep it secure. This feature has announced by Google on The Keyword via a blog post.

This is a really useful feature from Google which makes it a really useful feature in the Files app. Otherwise, the users had to download some third-party apps to lock their folder on Android smartphones. This gives us a legit option to secure our files and folders in Android smartphones.

Steps to PIN Protect Files and Folders on Android

  1. Download Google’s Files app from Google Play Store. If you have it already installed on your phone then update the app.
  2. Now launch the Files app and go to Browse then Collections.

  3. Tap the Safe Folder options and enter the PIN, re-enter the PIN to confirm it.
  4. Tap on Got it and your safe folder will create. You can now just add files to this folder to secure them using a PIN.
