Deep Search uses Bing’s existing web index and ranking system and improves them with GPT-4 to create natural language text from any input.
Deep Search will use GPT-4 to expand the search query into a more comprehensive description of what an ideal set of results should include.
In case of ambiguous queries, Deep Search will display a disambiguation pane where all the intents are represented. The results are irrelevant to you, you can select the right one from the disambiguation pane.
Deep Search does three things:
- Expand the search query to offer better description.
- Find deeper results to find pages that match the expanded query.
- Rank them according to how well they match the comprehensive description.
While Deep Search sounds exciting, there’s a big catch. Deep Search can take up to thirty seconds to complete. Microsoft claims that Deep Search can be worth the wait for more specific or comprehensive answers. As Microsoft mentioned in their official blog, Deep Search is meant for complex queries.
