‘MLB The Show 17’ Patch 1.04: Could This Update Be the Answer To All Of The Game’s Issues?

Since MLB The Show 17’s release last month, server issues has constantly plagued the game and interrupted online play. Even though a patch was released two weeks ago, The Show still faced major issues with its online capabilities.

On Monday, Sony announced they would perform regular server maintenance for The Show, and release a new patch overnight. It was assumed this would be the patch that Sony promised a couple of weeks ago in their statement to fans. Early Tuesday morning, the second patch for MLB The Show 17 was released and the servers were up and running soon thereafter.

The patch, which came in at 1.75 GB, addresses not just many of the server issues, but also some other issues that players have noticed since the game’s release. Players experienced freezing and locking at various points of the game (both during games and on menu screens). Issues with Sounds of the Show were fixed as well. One of the bigger gameplay fixes was a change to the unusually high amount of the opposite field home runs (especially when Lucas Duda of the Mets is hitting 400 foot bombs to left field in the game, when he never hits singles to left field let alone home runs in real life).

Time will tell whether the gameplay in MLB The Show 17 makes the game better, but also whether Sony’s server issues has been fixed completely. We should know the answer in the coming days as the fans on social media will make their voices heard and let Sony know whether everything is back to normal for The Show or if things are still not good for the servers.
