New “RUMOR” says the PS5 has at least 10-15% more performance than the Xbox Scarlett

According to the post, the next-gen console from Sony will outrun its future Xbox rival by 10 to 15%. Unsurprisingly, this kind of comparison has been questioned by genuine industry insiders.

AMD is providing the all-important custom CPUs and GPUs for Sony and Microsoft, and the currently known technical features of both devices are also on a similar level (e.g. ray-tracing capability). And this claim recently that could raise more than a few eyebrows:

[…] the max performance of the PS5 outperforms Scarlett by 10-15% and has a faster SSD.

The poster of this comment has apparently based their conclusion on an alleged industry source with knowledge of PS5 and Xbox Scarlett devkits. The tweet does make the admission that the Xbox Scarlett is superior in terms of ray tracing, but this was possibly added to try to tone down the considerable 10-15% performance claim for the PlayStation 5.

How Much Will The PS 5 Cost?

Unfortunately, right now Sony hasn’t given us the price point for the PS 5 but, we can assume that it’s going to cost somewhere around $400. Sony wouldn’t want to repeat the same mistakes as they did with the PS 3 which was priced at $500 while the competing Xbox 360 was priced at $299. Unsurprisingly, the PS 3 completely failed.

When is the PS 5 Coming Out?

Right now, we don’t have a clear released date but, according to many sources, the PlayStation 5 is expected to launch late 2020, most likely right around the holiday season.
