'Outlast 2' Release Date Confirmed; Coming To PC And Consoles In April

The long-awaited sequel to Outlast finally has a release date, Red Barrels confirmed Monday morning. And those looking forward to exploring Temple Gate won’t have to wait much longer, because the studio says Outlast 2 is headed to PC and consoles in late April.

A new press release confirms digital copies of Outlast 2 will be available via the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and Steam beginning April 25. The upcoming sequel follows cameraman Blake Langermann and his wife, Lynn, as they follow the case of a murdered pregnant woman deep into the Arizona desert. Additional information is scarce and there’s no telling what sorts of answers we can expect by the end of the game. But it’s safe to assume Outlast 2 will be every bit as terrifying as the first. And Red Barrels has probably learned a few new tricks since the first game debuted back in 2013.

In addition to outlining a timetable for the release of Outlast 2, Red Barrels also announced a new partnership with WB Interactive Entertainment to bring Outlast back to brick-and-mortar retailers when the game’s sequel debuts next month. WB will publish Outlast Trinity , a three-game bundle featuring the first Outlast , the first game’s Whistleblower DLC and Outlast 2 , a release Red Barrels Co-Founder Philippe Morin says the studio has wanted for four years.

“We’ve been lucky to have such an amazing fan base, and none of this would have been possible without their support,” said Red Barrels Co-Founder Philippe Morin. “Ever since we released Outlast in 2013, a physical version has been one of the top requests, so we’re obviously thrilled to finally give people the entire series in one bundle of terror.”

Outlast 2 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game debuts April 25.
