Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumors: Company Might Have Limited Launch Of 5 Million Units In February

Samsung, it seems, is not taking any risks with the Galaxy S8. The company is already on a good trajectory after a profitable third quarter.

But, the company is expected to make up for its lost reputation due to the Note 7 scandal last year. To avoid getting in a soup the way it did with the Note 7 device, the company might be trying out a new strategy — pushing out a small batch of S8 smartphones first.

Korean newspaper TheInvestor, citing sources, said Samsung might be trying out this strategy to see how the market responds.

Five million seems to be a small number in comparison to the 60 million units the company is expected to sell in 2017.

“As the release date of the S8 has been postponed to mid-April, Samsung seems to have set a more ambitious goal than before to make up for the loss caused by the Note model, which has so far led Samsung’s smartphone business every first quarter,” according to the report.

While this might be a change in strategy for Samsung, it might explain the whole back and forth about the device’s release — some reports indicate a release at the Mobile World Congress event in February, while other indicate a release in April.

Samsung has not put out any information regarding the Galaxy S8 release date.
