WhatsApp Has Finally Introduced the Chat Lock Feature, Which Allows You to Protect Your "Most Intimate" Conversations

WhatsApp is finally bringing a new feature to the fold that will let you keep your personal chats even more private as it would allow you to lock your individual chats behind biometric security. For people who don’t want someone to gain access to their phone and read their conversations, it is a great feature.

You can finally lock your chats behind biometrics thanks to a new WhatsApp feature

The best thing is that locking chat is a lot simpler. Once you decide to lock a specific chat, it will actually go to a folder titled Locked chats, and once you want to access the folder, you can tap on it, and you will be asked to use your fingerprint or password to access the chat. You can lock individual chats as well as group chats.

Honestly, I can see many people making a fuss over this Chat Lock feature, but in reality, WhatsApp has mentioned that the feature was introduced for people who have to hand their phones from time to time to their family members. This is actually a good feature because now people won’t be able to snoop on your chats, something that has become a very common issue for a lot of people. So what happens when you get a message from one of those locked chats? You will still be notified, but the contents of that message, along with the sender’s name, will be hidden.

WhatsApp has also announced that the company will make Chat Lock even more secure by adding an option that locks your companion devices. You will also be able to create custom passwords and more. The feature is currently rolling out to Android devices, and we are hoping that it will roll out on devices too.

WhatsApp has even shared an introductory feature that you can check out here:

Now, it is worth noting that although the feature is rolling out right now, it is still not available at my end, and I would assume that the feature is going to roll out in stages, so you will have to wait for the update to hit your device, as well finally. Once it is live, I will have a tutorial up and running that will show you how you can go ahead and use the new Chat Lock feature.
