Lenovo showed-off its new, 2024 laptop range at the CES trade show in Las Vegas. There were many new models in its design, gaming and business ranges including, Yoga, ThinkBook, ThinkPad, IdeaPad and Legion. Lenovo also announced local, Australian pricing and availability.
New Lenovo Yoga Laptops
Lenovo showcased its latest Yoga laptops and convertibles for creatives, IdeaPad laptops designed for the everyday user and some new peripherals.
Lenovo’s new Yoga laptops come with Lenovo Yoga Creator Zone, a new software for creators, artists, and anyone seeking to harness generative Ai. It, “Transforms text-based descriptions or sketches into stunning visuals without complex prompts, codes, or setups.”
Headlining the new, ninth generation of Lenovo Yoga laptops are the new 14-inch and 16-inch Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i and Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 convertible. The latter comes bundled with a Lenovo Smart Pen and Sleeve. The Intel Core Ultra CPU-sporting laptops are designed for creators and are MIL-STD-810H rated for durability. They also have a Lenovo AI Core Chip for additional Ai functionality.
The Ai Core Chip works with Lenovo’s X Power tuning tech (which is powered by machine learning) to, “Enhance creative tasks like 3D rendering and film colour correction by allocating processing power to optimise performance, battery life and cooling efficiency.” Both models also feature dedicated Windows Copilot keys for instant access to the new Windows Ai assistant.
Rounding out the Lenovo Yoga family are four, additional, ninth-Gen laptops: For portability, the 14-inch Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i is a thin and light Intel Evo Edition premium laptop powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor and featuring a WUXGA, OLED screen. For content creation, the 14-inch Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i and Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 are creator laptops which either come with Intel Core Ultra Processors or AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processors, plus Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics. They also have optional PureSight Pro LCD and 3K OLED screens.
Offering more wow factor is the 13-inch Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, whose predecessor was the world’s first full size dual-screen OLED laptop. It now features Intel’s new Core Ultra Processors, a PureSight, 2.8K OLED screen and a rotating Bowers & Wilkins soundbar. It’s also available with creativity-enhancing software like Smart Launcher (to group commonly used apps together) and an enhanced, virtual, Ai keyboard, “To beautify handwriting.” We look forward to comparing it with the Gen 8 Yoga Book 9i.
It was also announced that the 14-inch and 16-inch Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 convertible tablets would be refreshed with 14th-Gen, Intel CPUs.
A new, entertainment-and-learning-oriented Lenovo Tab M11 tablet was also displayed. It’s equipped with the Lenovo Tab Pen and comes pre-loaded with premium software that enhances usability. This includes Nebo (to convert handwriting into text), MyScript Calculator 2 (to solve equations and functions in real-time) and WPS Office to view and edit documents.

New Lenovo ThinkBooks
Lenovo also announced new ThinkBook products and accessories for the SMB market. The new ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid is a Microsoft Surface-like hybrid but one that can insta-switch between being a Windows laptop and an Android tablet.
The new ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 is an Intel Evo Edition laptop with long battery life, a built-in Copilot key and is Lenovo’s first carbon-neutral SMB laptop.
The ThinkBook 14i Gen 6+ is a powerful, versatile and smart laptop with, up to, a 14.5-inch, 3K display which includes a Graphics Extension (TGX) port that supports the new ThinkBook Graphics Extension (TGX) dock which boosts Ai-computing power.
Lenovo also introduced its updated ThinkBook 16p Gen 5 laptop which combines, “Power and elegance” with support for the new Magic Bay Studio that, in turn, incorporates a 4K camera and integrated speakers.

Mechanical Energy Harvesting Combo
Lenovo showcased two, proof-of-concept devices at CES. The Mechanical Energy Harvesting Combo is a product that uses mechanical movement and solar irradiation to power a mouse and a keyboard, eliminating the need for external charging. The products support both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection connectivity to multiple devices.

Meanwhile, the Lenovo ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 SPE is, “A revolutionary and innovative proof of concept that boasts powerful performance, an exquisite appearance and leads a trend of intelligent colour personalisation laptop covers. Through Lenovo’s hardware and software algorithm solutions and leveraging E Ink Prism technology, users can customise the exterior cover in various patterns, creating a unique notebook appearance.”
The concept laptop lid supports up to one thousand different images. The ultra-low power technology from E ink and Lenovo’s system design, the colour-changing top cover won’t impact upon battery life – even when powered off, the top cover can still keep changing.
Lenovo highlighted four design schemes at CES 2024, including two colourful schemes, a dynamic clock and multi system interaction.

Lenovo also unveiled new business and consumer laptops with Core Ultra processors. The new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 and IdeaPad Pro 5i are Intel Evo laptops powered by Intel Core Ultra processors.

New Lenovo Legion Gaming Laptops
Lenovo’s new 9th-Generation, Legion gaming laptops were also shown-off at CES.
The Lenovo Legion 7i (16”, 9), Lenovo Legion 5i (16”, 9), and Lenovo Legion Slim 5 (16”, 9) are for gamers who need a laptop that can handle their favourite games as well as their STEM apps.
The Lenovo Legion 9i (16”, 9) is for those who will settle for nothing less than the best in their gaming and content creation pursuits.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (16”, 9) and Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (16”, 9) are for gamers who need the ultimate in FPS, style, and screen.

Lenovo’s new AvatarMaster app is powered by Ai, and transforms users’ profiles into 3D digital avatars with customisation capabilities for facial features, clothing and accessories. After creating and customizing their avatars, users can animate and stream a digital version of themselves during video conferences, gaming sessions, and across multiple platforms.

Motorola MotoTalk
Lenovo’s Motorola brand introduced a new MotoTalk feature which uses Ai to, ‘Increase the productivity of retail teams.’ MotoTalk is a business productivity platform for PC and mobile devices that allows business customers to create and manage tasks and workdays for their teams. With the new features, field teams can use Image Recognition or Route Planning to optimise their daily activities.
With the ‘Image Recognition’ feature, field teams can identify and count the quantity of any product on shelves, gather information on their prices and access share reports in each store, ensuring merchandising compliance. Leveraging Ai, the tool also strategically optimises commercial routes, maximizing efficiency in terms of distance, time, and sales opportunities. This feature enables the generation of itineraries for different field teams in a few minutes and it also summarises the employee’s visits and performances in stores. The new technologies, aimed at empowering people with severe disabilities, include: a hyper-realistic AI avatar developed with DeepBrain AI to preserve personality and power communication; an on-device, personal large language model (LLM) for predictive text created by Lenovo’s AI Innovation Center; eye-tracking hardware tested on Lenovo devices; and an integrated, Ai-optimised, multi-modal input platform. Pioneering assistive technology is at the core of Lenovo’s ongoing sponsorship of and collaboration with the Scott-Morgan Foundation.
